Easter Sugar Cookies 2019

Abstract Easter Sugar Cookies Easter always seems to be the kick-off to creating new designs of sugar cookies. This year however, I didn’t have much time think about Easter sugar cookies designs due to Fur Ball, a charity event that I help organize, was just a week apart. So I needed a quick but fun sugar cookie design that didn’t have too many details yet was still cute and festive. Here is the recipe for the sugar cookies: Perfect Sugar Cookie

Christmas Cookies For the Humane Society (HSPPR)

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) here in Colorado Springs, is a great organization. Volunteering and working with them for the past 3 years has given me a glimpse of the important work they do to raise money in order to care and support our four legged friends while they find their forever homes. So when they asked to make Christmas cookie gift boxes for a partnering organization, I didn’t hesitate. I was honored to support and be a part of this organization.  I was inspired by a table runner that I found at Joanne Fabrics for the theme of the cookies. Since I decided on making Christmas cookies gifts boxes this year for friends and family (30 dozen total) I wanted to keep ALL the cookie decorating to a minimum this year. However, they still needed to be festive and pretty. So adding another 4 dozen cookies for the Humane Society to my own “lot” of cookies helped me stick to my original plan of only using 3 frosting colors. Using 3 colors certainly reduce the time to decorate 34 dozen cookies this holiday!  (3 colors plus a dollop of RED!) With my new hot sealer, wrapping the cookies made my work a lot easier.  MERRY CHRISTMAS Humane Society! (See recipe: Perfect Sugar Cookies for Cut-Outs) . . . another late night . . . just me and the Christmas tree

First Batch of Christmas Cookies

New food coloring from Chefmaster just arrived and I wanted to test them out before I really get rolling on Christmas cookies this year. They came highly recommend by many cookie makers and people love that they have a convenient “dropper” top so mixing colors is more accurate. I like the colors – they are very rich and virtually tasteless. I think Ill keep them! Made a small batch of cookies for testing – here’s some pics… Love the rich color of the gel coloring with just a drop or two. But ironically, this is the only batch of cookies that will get this much color variety this year as I plan to make a 20-30 dozen cookies this year.  I’m planning “cookie gift boxes” this year for family, friends and neighbors so i’m planned on a minimalist style Christmas cookie decorating (3 or 4 colors) since I will have many cookies to make, bake and decorate!
